Temporary Closure

As you probably know (because I have had to send out a LOT of cancellation notices recently), Relaxed Rabbit Massage Therapy is currently closed. At a time when everyone is extra stressed and anxious and could really, really use a nice relaxing massage, it’s ironic that having a massage is about the worst thing you could do during this pandemic. The confined space and physical contact pretty much guarantee that if one of us is sick when we enter the massage room, we’re both going to be sick by the time we leave. This is true even with regular colds, but it is especially scary with a serious (for some) illness like COVID-19 that can be passed on by someone who isn’t showing symptoms and doesn’t know they’re sick.

When the virus started spreading in Washington state, “don’t get anyone sick” became my number one priority. As tough as it is, I was relieved when the order came to shut down massage businesses. A massage is not worth risking your life or anyone else’s over. I love my job; I miss doing massage, I miss my wonderful clients, and I might just go completely nuts if the stay-at-home order lasts much longer, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the right thing to do. We’re all doing what we can to cope, and I find that letting myself be guided by a proactive “don’t get anyone sick” mindset is a lot more useful right now than a fearful “don’t get me sick” mindset.

I hope you’re staying healthy, and I’d love to hear about any methods you’ve found that are helping you cope and de-stress during this very strange time.
